If you have played Cyberpunk 2077 even a little bit, then you will know for sure that it is one of the most graphically impressive game and it looks incredible especially if your GPU supports Cyberpunk 2077’s ray tracing effects. We are not saying that the game doesn’t look good without ray tracing even though the latter is an important feature for the game and as you may have noticed it provides a noticeable visual improvement.
So far, Cyberpunk 2077’s ray tracing effects are only supported by Nvidia RTX graphics cards. CD Projekt Red have said, even before the launch, that the new AMD graphic cards will not support this next-gen technology, but that they were already working closely with AMD in order to incorporate this functionality into the game in the future. Unfortunately, no specific time period is given for when this addition will be completed, which is somehow understandable because it requires a lot of work to be done. So, for now, if you want to play Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing, then you will definitely need an Nvidia RTX GPU to be able to enjoy ray-traced visuals.

On the other hand, looking at the Cyberpunk 2077’s ray tracing PC requirements make us think that for the lower-end RTX GPUs, especially for RTX 2060, it will be hard to hit playable frame rates at 1080p with ray tracing switched on and even with DLSS enabled. We also see that the best ray tracing graphics cards for Cyberpunk 2077 right now are both – the RTX 3070 and the RTX 3080, if you want to run the game at 1440p or 4K resolutions, respectively. Some game tests show that its ray tracing Minimum specification does not differ much from its regular High PC requirements, which is Ultra settings at 1440p. The same applies for the game’s ray tracing High and Ultra specifications and its normal Ultra PC requirements, which is Ultra settings at 4K.
In general, you shouldn’t need a significantly more powerful PC to play Cyberpunk 2077 with ray tracing compared to if you would play the game on its normal non-ray tracing settings. However, if ray tracing is an important game’s feature for you even though AMD’s new graphics cards can offer great performance, then you should choose Nvidia over AMD when it comes to Cyberpunk 2077.
